Kak wondered if he’d read the paper the next day and remember this conversation. If it would dawn on him that he’d been the last person to see her alive. Or if the story would be buried so deeply in the pages that only those with more time than purpose would see it, musing momentarily over the woman found on the beach before their next sip of coffee washed her away.
